About O’Neill Development

O’Neill Development is a construction, remodeling and development firm that has been active in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C., including Maryland’s Eastern Shore, since 1975. O’Neill Development has custom built or remodeled over 375 homes of various sizes and has constructed or remodeled over 100,000 square feet of light commercial, institutional and office space. The company has also developed five residential subdivisions. O’Neill Development has been recognized for its high-quality custom work in both national and local publications.

O’Neill Development specializes in custom work, providing extensive pre construction and construction services. For the client, this means a broad band of help in budgeting, architect selection, design development, and problem solving during the critical early stages of planning; careful management during the construction period and thorough after-market service. The company has developed a broad base of experience over 40 years. O’Neill Development specializes in new residential construction and remodeling of homes of all sizes, but their work also includes institutional and small commercial construction and remodeling; historic restoration; land development and even barn and cabin building. In addition to homeowners, O’Neill’s clients include banks, non-profits and the Federal Government. The State of Maryland, Montgomery County and Gaithersburg, MD have recognized O’Neill Development with restoration awards of excellence.

In all custom work performed, O’Neill Development works closely with the owners, architects and designers to ensure complete satisfaction. Our experience clearly makes a difference. O’Neill adds value to the construction process by selecting a team of subcontractors and suppliers who meet our required nexus of quality, dependability and fair pricing. In addition to pre-qualifying subcontractors, O’Neill Development constantly reviews construction methods for quality control and offers ongoing advice for cost savings.

O’Neill Development employs a talented and dedicated staff who manage the office and run the jobsites. Brendan O’Neil Jr. is president of the company and handles sales and overall construction management. Brendan is assisted by Kerri Ford, who coordinates all construction activity including subcontract administration, customer selections and job agenda management and punch out activity. Martin Johnson manages all pre-construction activity including maintenance of an extensive cost database, estimating, subcontractor qualification, value engineering services and permitting. Adam Theeke manages the Eastern Shore Division. Susan Tucker handles bookkeeping, detailed client reports and office management duties. Brendan O’Neill Sr remains involved as advisor and consultant to Brendan Jr. in all aspects of Company operations.

O’Neill employs 4 experienced project managers who are responsible for site managing individual projects. Once assigned to a job, they remain committed until completion of the work and punch out. After market service is the responsibility of each project manager when their job is completed. Our project managers represent over 115 years of building and management experience. In a high turnover industry such as construction, O’Neill Development is unusual in its employee tenure. The average employment length for the entire company is over 20 years.
